Approved Internal Verifier Status (AIVS)

What is this?

AIVS enables an Internal Verifier within a recognised centre to authorise the Recommendation for the Award of Credit (RAC) form issued by OCN Eastern Region, without the need for external verification.

Approved Internal Verifier Status (AIVS) relates to a named individual in a particular recognised centre and is not in any way transferable, either between verifiers or between centres.

Is AIVS mandatory?

AIVS is in many cases very beneficial but is not mandatory.  Without AIVS approval an Internal Verifier can internally verify learners' work but will not be able to sign off the Recommendation for the Award of Credit (RAC) form issued by OCN Eastern Region and the centre will require additional external verification visits.

How do I get AIVS?

AIVS is approved on completion of the appropriate training and evidence of good practice, or on production of appropriate existing qualifications and evidence of experience.

There are, therefore, various routes to achieving AIVS including; successful completion of the NOCN Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (which includes a theory and a practice unit) run by OCN Eastern Region.  If you are already an experienced internal verifier you may be able to achieve AIVS through completion of just the practical unit or if you are experienced and already hold an existinig relevent internal verifier qualification, AIVS may be achieved through endorsement.
