Governance in the Voluntary and Community Sector

These qualifications develop a range of skills and understanding to enable learners to be effective participants in the governance of new and existing voluntary and community organisations.

NOCN Level 2 Award in Governance in the Voluntary and Community Sector (QCF)
NOCN Level 3 Award in Governance in the Voluntary and Community Sector (QCF)

The qualifications have been developed with and are supported by Skills Third Sector, the designated lead organisation with responsibility for the third sector skills. A previous pilot project with the UK Workforce Hub tested and evaluated an approach to qualification development with a variety of front line organisations. These qualifications have been developed from this pilot.

They encourage learning and training in governance issues and help with formal recognition of the role. They also develop relevant knowledge, skills and experience for members of Boards of Trustees or Management Committees and other governing bodies to understand their main roles and responsibilities and carry out these effectively.
