Standardisation

The purpose of standardisation is to ensure consistency in the application of levels and credits across OCN provision and to ensure consistency of practice in assessment and verification. There are three tiers of standardisation activity: centre, regional and national for nationally accredited NOCN Qualifications.

Centre standardisation is undertaken by Recognised Centres to standardise internally set tasks and the outcomes of internal assessment.

Regional standardisation is undertaken by OCN Eastern Region, evidence from Recognised Centre standardisation is sampled from across the region and the outcomes are fed back to Recognised Centres.

National standardisation is undertaken by the National Open College Network (NOCN), evidence from regional standardisation is sampled and the outcomes are fed back to the OCNs.

OCN Eastern Region will identify the programme of regional standardisation events on an annual basis.
