NOCN’s National Qualifications are built from units of credit – small bite-sized pieces of learning accredited via OCN Eastern Region. Each unit of credit can be awarded individually meaning that units can be accumulated over flexible periods of time to form full National Qualifications. This flexible approach enables learners to achieve in incremental steps, therefore ensuring a higher ultimate success rate.
Units covered by learners can be combined into different sizes of qualifications – Awards, Certificates and Diplomas. Using this method enables you to build a qualification that meets your learners' needs and offer learners the opportunity to gain credit for their achievement from small steps to full sized Diplomas.
Qualifications are offered from Entry level to Level 3 and can form the basis of return to learn courses, full Level 2 Diplomas and, for example, specialist courses in employability skills, languages, skills for life and functional skills.
Each Qualification comes with its own Guide which details how the qualification can be used and how to design the best routes for your learners.
The list of NOCN qualifications on the QCF is growing. In addition, some qualifications that were approved on the QCF in the early stages have now been extended. Download full list of NOCN QCF Qualifications with end dates or visit the NOCN website to download Qualification Guides for these qualifications.
Some NQF qualifications have been extended beyond their original end date of August 2010 to fill some gaps recognised by Ofqual. Visit the NOCN website to download Qualification Guides for current NQF qualifications or search the national Unit Bank.
Many NOCN qualifications are suitable for learners from the age of 14. Some do have age restrictions. The full lsit of qualifications with any age restrictions can be found on the NOCN website.
