SfL and Functional Skills Updates

Skills for Life E3
Entry 3 Numeracy is now available on screen to all centres who have the Exams on Demand software for L1/2 at no extra charge for set up.  New centres who do not have the EXoD software would of course have to go through the approval process. 

There are now two ways that learners can achieve the E3 Numeracy award:

• Learners may complete the onscreen test only
• Learners complete the six separate benchmark assessments they would normally complete on a unitized approach to E3 Numeracy, but would not do the external assessments.

NOCN Qualification Guides are being updated to reflect this

A reminder: if learners are registered for E3 Literacy, they no longer have to complete the external assessments in addition to the benchmark assessments for each of the units.  However, currently learners at E1 and E2 in both Literacy and Numeracy have to do both the benchmark assignments and the external assessments.

Functional Skills
New Entry Level sample assessments and mark schemes are now on the NOCN website. 

New live Entry Level assessments will be available at the end of October.

ULNs
Centres must use ULNs for all registrations to Functional Skills as this is now mandatory. MIAP has published a Quick Guide to Acquiring ULNs

Training
Countdown Events are still taking place around the country.  Please visit the QCDA website to book a place.  These are very important for new and existing centres.

NOCN is also running a series of Introduction to NOCN Functional Skills Assessments events.

These workshops are FREE to all NOCN Functional Skills Centres and will be of use to assessors, managers and internal verifiers involved with Functional Skills.
