Learners

The learner has always been at the focus for everything OCN Eastern Region does. For over 25 years, we have been at the forefront of delivering credit-based learning which the Government has now adopted as a national scheme.

Credit-based qualifications are:

  • flexible – you can complete units or qualifications to gain credits towards a nationally recognised qualification,
  • motivational – achieving ‘bite-sized’ learning credits encourages you to continue learning through recognition of your achievement,
  • individual – learn at your own pace and be assessed in a way that is most appropriate to you,
  • achievable – credits are fully inclusive to everyone in society, no matter of their particular abilities.

OCN Eastern Region offers NOCN qualifications, delivered by colleges and learning centres, which gives you the real opportunity to develop the skills you need to progress in life – whether it’s finding employment for the first time or achieving a place at university.

We can provide general information on qualifications but if you want to find a particular course in your area you should contact your local Further Education College.

Other sources of information include:

  • Learndirect: for courses, qualifications and training
  • Next Step: for wider advice about getting on in work and life
  • Connexions: specifically for 13 to 19 year olds.
