These qualifications are designed to meet the needs of employers for ‘just in time’ training and provide for accreditation of ‘on the job’ training and development.
They will help to address the skills gaps identified in technical cleaning skills, information technology, employability, customer care and communication skills for cleaning operatives working in different work settings.

Candidates will achieve generic skills in communication, health and safety and developing work roles applicable across the industry as a mandatory part of the qualification. Within the optional units they will have opportunities to develop a range of technical skills related to cleaning according to their needs and work setting. The qualification will be inclusive in that candidates will be able to meet the requirements primarily through their work based activities and so will be open to all those working in the industry. This qualification will help to drive up the standards of existing poor training provision and support improvements in the quality and consistency of services provided which has been identified as an important issue for the industry.
