Ensuring quality standards are maintained and are consistent within and across Access Providers both regionally and nationally is fundamental. Three inter-related areas of activity underpin the achievement of this quality and consistency:

Internal Moderation
All Access to HE providers are required to operate and maintain robust internal moderation processes that are documented and conform to common benchmarks. Internal moderation arrangements are approved at the programme recognition stage and documented in the relevant section of the submission document. The robustness of the agreed arrangements, and the validity of associated assessment judgments, will be monitored through by an Access Centre Moderator.
Access Centre Moderation
A Centre Moderator is appointed for each Access provider to oversee the internal processes. A Subject Moderator is also appointed to support the the Access Moderators by focussing on the quality and standards of assessment at subject level.
